The paper first presents a literature review onspirituality, including a historical overview and areflection of this phenomenon as interpreted atthe personal, integrative, and professional level and subsequently engages in a discussion of thestudy. The survey findings are presented, fol-lowed by tables that include frequency, relative frequency, and top-ten ranking of the answersprovided. After an analysis of the study findings, a conclusion is presented. The authors of this paper wanted to find out whatthe role of spirituality is in challenging times: Dopeople gravitate to or deviate from their spiritual values, or is there no change in that regard? Oncesome of the corresponding answer categorieswere combined, a clear trend became visible: spirituality is the most important approach in challenging times, and leaders who aim for lastingexcellence of their endeavors should nurture workenvironments that support trust, morale, and har-mony.
