2007Descripción: 24 páginas.Tema(s): EMPLEADOS | RECLUTAMIENTO | SELECCIÓN DE PERSONAL | SECTOR PÚBLICO | E-GOBIERNO | SOCIEDAD DE LA INFORMACIÓN | GESTIÓN PÚBLICA | EFICIENCIA | GOBIERNO | INTERNET | COMERCIO ELECTRÓNICO | ESTADOS UNIDOS | AMÉRICA DEL NORTERecursos en línea: Haga clic para acceso en línea Resumen: In this experiment, subjects attempted to apply online for jobs with all fifty states and with the fifty largest American businesses. There is no technical reason that it should be more difficult to apply for a state government job online than to apply for a private-sector job online. Yet states were much less likely than businesses to accept online job applications. When it was possible to apply online for a state government job, the websites tended to be less user-friendly and informative than their private-sector counterparts. The results of this experiment belie claims that e-government has progressed beyond the most rudimentary stages at the state level. Because of the digital divide, state governments cannot rely exclusively on online applications. However, a state’s citizens have a right to demand an online job application process that is at least as user-friendly as the private sector offers.
